Tamara graduated from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul with degrees in Instrumental Music Education, Psychology, and Bible. She has taught private instrumental music lessons since 1989 on brass, woodwinds, orchestral strings, percussion, and piano with many of her students winning numerous awards and honors. Several students have gone on to perform professionally and become music teachers themselves.
Tamara worked for Groth Music in Bloomington, MN for over 15 years, managing the Educational Services department for over 10 years. During her time there, she became well-versed in printed music, band and orchestral instruments, and elementary music education. One of her strengths was building relationships with area music educators, many of whom she still keeps in contact with.
Tamara has performed at Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, the Ordway Center for Performing Arts, and the Sheldon Theatre. She performed for years with the John Philip Sousa Memorial Band and currently performs with several community theatre groups on a wide variety of instruments.
