Trombone, Euphonium

Zach is an active freelance musician, teacher, and arranger based in Minneapolis, Minn.  Originally from Conway, Ark., he moved to Minnesota in 2009 where he obtained a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from St. Olaf College.  He also holds a Doctor of Music Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Music from The Boston Conservatory.

In addition to teaching private lessons from his home studio in Minneapolis, Zach is a part-time music instructor for The Blake School and David Thomas School of Music.  He also served for two years as the brass ensemble director at Luther Seminary and has led sectionals and masterclasses at several local high schools.

Zach maintains a diverse performance schedule as a member of the Compass Rose Brass Ensemble, subbing with groups such as the Rochester and Mankato symphonies, playing with his jazz combo at Jazz Central, and playing lead trombone in Hornucopia, a Twin Cities-based rock band that pays tribute to the many horn bands of the rock era.

When he is not playing, teaching, or working, Zach enjoys cooking, hiking, and camping with his wife and his dog.
